BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER / SALES

LOCATION:

OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Business Development Manager / Sales (BDM) is a business developer / sales representative role primarily responsible for leading an internal team to pursue and contract for new business. The BDM is responsible for leading a sales team that promotes, markets, and sells energy and sustainability management services to thousands of customers throughout the United States and for developing strategies for targeting clients, building organizational partnerships and strategic alliances with non-profits, regional organizations, and technology accelerators, and working with client executives from project conceptualization through to construction and implementation. The position reports directly to the Regional Sales Director.

The position is also responsible for planning, direction, or coordinating the actual distribution or movement of a product to the customer. Further, the position is responsible for coordinating sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas, and goals and establishing training programs for sales representatives as well as analyzing sales statistics gathered by staff to determine sales potential and inventory requirements and monitoring the preferences of customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE SPECIALTY OCCUPATION POSITION CONSIST OF THE FOLLOWING-

* Sales management to include direct sales, marketing, or customer service activities

* Resolve customer complaints or problems

* Advise customers on technical or procedural issues

* Analyze financial records or reports to determine state of operations

* Supervise employees

* Develop and take ownership in a Regional Strategy specific to an assigned region

* Conduct site evaluations for potential customers

* Update all customers on company product modifications, changes, and enhancements

* Develop, maintain, and expand relationships with all levels in an account ranging from Facilities Managers to Chief Business Officers and Financial Director, to Superintendents, City managers and Board/Council Members

* Maintain professionalism, diplomacy, sensitivity, and tact to portray the company in a positive manner

* Work as part of a cross-functional project development team that includes project finance, operations, legal, sales/marketing and communications to secure new business and ensure delighted customers

* Organize customer meetings, contract negotiations, present at public Board or Council meetings

* Maintain a revenue and margin quota and robust sales funnel

* Prepare reports for sales and marketing and maintaining expense accounts

* Conduct meetings with customers to review & define program opportunities and desired success parameters and to qualify the opportunity

* Identify and ensure engagement with multiple stakeholders within the customer organization and surrounding community throughout the development process, to determine, define and develop compelling business impact strategies

* Attend critical networking and trade show events to obtain leads, present a positive public image of ENGIE Services, and expand knowledge of critical issues facing our customer base

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors degree in International Relations, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field
*

12 months of experience as Business Development Manager, Sustainability, or Account Executive (i.e., Account Executive within Sustainability Services) selling energy-related complex and consultative solutions to Public Sector agencies (municipalities, school districts, universities, special districts, etc.) within the California market.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

*

1 year of experience in a quota-driven sales environment
*

3 years working for a firm in the energy efficiency, renewable power or energy infrastructure sector
*

Working knowledge of Salesforce or equivalent CRM software
